About Us
In January 2003, Duane expressed interest in purchasing the old Waterman's restaurant in Lake City. Becky agreed with the decision and they went forth! The first thing they did was change the name. Boy did this take a while! It was decided that with the awesome view, we'd call it Skyline! on Pepin!
Over the next several months, countless hours were spent renovating and big dollars spent on new equipment. Staff was hired and on May 20th, 2003 Skyline's doors opened for business. That was a busy weekend!
Over the years, we have continued to expand and reorganize the menu and constantly work with the staff to gain consistency and excellent quality service. We pride ourselves with a low employee turnover which allows us to offer the best possible family restaurant atmosphere.
We are excited to have several employees that have worked in our building for many years. Marge Majerus and Barb Gastner combined over 40! Holly Schmitz (our dining room manager) and Marsha are also long timers! We then added Robert, Matt and Whitney who have worked here over 6 years each!! Leslie, Megan, Kyley and Nate have all been here 5+ years! 3 years for Haley, Ashley, Nikki, Brandon, Alex, Nick and Jesse!....Our latest additions are Dar, Kaila, Jamie, Paul, Will, Zach, Darren and Patrick! We've lost a few near and dear to college and career change...DJ, Jay, Tom, Tim, Alex, Justin, Jordan, Andy, Sheri, Jenny, Darla and Karen (to name a few)...and they had all been with us 1 year +!! What a big family!!
Wait!, Cant forget to mention....Duane and Becky also have "5" kids!! Tesla, Dillon, Brittany, Samantha and Jessica!! They also spend some time here with us ........."helping out"?!
Duane has been in the restaurant business for 20 + years. His family owns the Liberty's Restaurant in Red Wing, Minnesota. Becky has an accounting degree and has also been in the restaurant business for 14 years. Their combined knowledge in the different aspects of the restaurant industry allow them to run a successful business. However, also able to admit they are not perfect and are learning every day......they value all questions and comments from the customer!
